Finally! Google Mail Will Let You Change Your Gmail Name

Google mail

Google Mail has introduced a long-awaited feature that allows users to rename their existing Gmail address without losing any data. With this update, users can choose a more professional or stylish Gmail address within the same account, keeping all emails, files, and data unchanged.

The update was first noticed by users in the “Google Pixel Hub” Telegram group, who spotted the changes on the Hindi-language version of the help page.

When a user changes their Gmail address, Google automatically converts the old email ID into an alternate email address. As a result, emails sent to both the old and new Gmail addresses arrive in the same inbox. Users can continue using their previous email address at any time without any issues.

Both the old and new Gmail addresses work for signing into Google services such as Google Drive, Google Photos, YouTube, Google Maps, and Google Contacts. Google ensures that all account data remains unchanged, including emails, photos, documents, videos, and subscriptions.

For example,

If you change your email from old@gmail.com to new@gmail.com
You can still access Google Drive files, Photos, YouTube channels, and Contacts exactly as before. Emails sent to old@gmail.com will reach the same inbox, just like emails sent to the new Gmail address.

Google also confirms that users can change their Gmail address only once every 12 months. This feature is available only for accounts ending with @gmail.com, allowing users to upgrade their Gmail identity without creating a new account or losing valuable data.
